Caroline and Anna, founders of Miyé, tell us all about female hormonal balance!

Pollution, endocrine disruptors, stress omnipresent... for the past few decades, the female metabolism in particular has been under severe strain. Early puberties, fertility issues, hormonal acne, endometriosis, thyroid disorder, female hormonal imbalances seem to be exploding in recent years...

Meet in our article Caroline and Anna, the founders of MiYé, a Provencal brand which lifts the veil on female taboos!

A hormone, what is it? How do hormones affect our body?

Caroline :

Hormones are the messengers, the conductors of our body. So when a hormone hits the wrong note, it's the overall symphony of our body that's impacted: in the short term, it's our overall well-being that suffers (mood, weight gain etc.) and in the long term, many health problems!

This is why it is so important to identify and correct imbalances by

What are the most common hormonal disorders?

Anna :

The hormonal disorders particularly affect women... However, especially for women on the pill, some of these hormonal imbalances can be masked for a time (irregular cycles...) The most frequently encountered female hormonal imbalances are those of sex hormones and thyroid hormones, others are much rarer.

It is therefore particularly women with good times in their lives (periods of hormonal fluctuations) that are affected: pregnant or breastfeeding women, but also in pre-menopause and menopause more specifically!

The main symptoms hormonal imbalance: hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, polycystic ovary syndrome, estrogen dominance, difficult menopause, certain signs of imbalance
hormones do not deceive:

  • of the mood swings more frequent, irritability or hyper emotionality
  • of the digestive disorders
  • a fatigue who settles
  • a low libido
  • a hair loss suddenly more marked,
  • of the thinning hair and brittle nails,
  • a rebound ofacne
  • a chilliness or conversely a transpiration excessive
  • problems of sleep
  • and weight change fast (up or down) without changing habits
  • A discomfort of intimate areas

What is estrogen dominance?

Caroline :

This is one of the most common cases encountered in young woman : A hormonal imbalance in favor of estrogen. Estrogen dominance then creates a imbalance between the "soothing" effect of progesterone (patience, sleep...) and the "stimulating" effect of estrogen (anxiety, insomnia...).

The main symptoms : irritability, anger, restlessness, mood swings, tense breasts, fluid retention, headaches, sweet urges, memory difficulties, cold feet and hands (symptom of adrenal gland fatigue).

This excess could be due in particular to the xenoestrogens from our environment that have estrogenic activity similar to that of our hormones. The use of birth control pills or a unbalanced diet or poor in nutrients can also be to blame... Finally, the stress recurring and its cortisol spikes unbalance our entire hormonal functioning!

Anna :

These days, many experts agree that many women over the age of 35 already have troubled adrenal glands due to chronic stress in their lives : the synthesis of cortisol will therefore increase to the detriment of progesterone (progesterone being converted into cortisol to cope with stress), thus accentuating this phenomenon of estrogen dominance.

How to have a lasting hormonal balance?

Anna :

Again, it's all about balance, about "terrain": so it's the way of life which has a pivotal role. 75% of our hormonal balance depends on our lifestyle: we can therefore affect our hormones in a sensitive way.

An expert warns us: correcting a hormonal imbalance with hormones can have the opposite effect. When the level of cortisol is high (in case of chronic stress for example), the brain no longer responds to estrogen. This is why during menopause, a woman with a normal level of estrogen can trigger hot flashes next to a stress shot. And if she decides to supplement herself with estrogen to counter her hot flashes, not only will they not go away, but this same woman could end up in estrogen dominance and accentuate certain symptoms (fluid retention, tight breasts, etc.)

That's why we fundamentally believe it's field to be dealt with, i.e. essentially the lifestyle, lemotional balance and food to recreate the conditions for a lasting hormonal balance, even after the menopause.

Caroline :

A few essential rules to follow to preserve your hormonal balance:

  1. Learn to better manage your stress : cardiac coherence, yoga, meditation, herbal medicine, everything is good for relaxing and refocusing! Get to know yourself better and calm yourself down better, because this is key!
  2. eat varied, without excess. Vary the colors on the plate as a reminder: as a bonus, it stimulates culinary creativity.
  3. Avoid heavy pollutants that "scramble" hormonal communication: Tobacco, pesticides, non-organic meat and dairy products, plastic packaging, certain cosmetic products or furniture, it's time to clean up!
The endocrine disruptors, what does it do exactly?

A few thousand (at the very least) chemicals have appeared in our
environment over the past fifty years. (plastic packaging, pesticides, synthetic hormones...) and seem to "confuse" our hormonal communication system. How ? Because of the similarity between man-made chemicals and hormones, these are called " xéno-hormones ».

To understand, we could compare our hormones to
keys, whose role is to unlock locks (called "receptors") located in our cells in order to give them to perform a specific action. However, for twenty years, we have seen that these locks (or "receivers") can be opened, closed or blocked by components that were not intended for them.
: the famous endocrine disruptors.

In our opinion, a subject of public health still largely underestimated... Fortunately, natural solutions exist and the body is able to return to its state of balance naturally if it is given the means to do so before it is too much late !

Tell us more about yourself: how did the MiYé adventure begin?

Caroline :

With Anna, my very good friend for 25 years, we are convinced that today a brand is missing adapted to the metabolism and to female cycles, which accompanies them in a benevolent and uninhibited way at key stages of their hormonal life: after a baby, after a treatment, or in the 5 to 10 years preceding the menopause.

Us IN&OUT treatments are specially designed to help our body to regain a state of balance naturally during these "hormonal storm" periods. That's why we created MiYé, "the good friend" in Provençal, a range of 3 BIO In & Out products that addresses 3 very common symptoms in women: loss of hair density, l’emotional balance and theintimate discomfort.

Anna :

We have developed 2 treatments and 1 food supplement specially adapted to the female metabolism, sans hormones and certified organic. Our ambition ? Lift the veil on female taboos that impact the quality of life so that women can take control of their hormonal well-being. But also to ensure that women over 35 no longer have to choose between effectiveness, naturalness and pleasure in use.

For a year, we had the chance to discuss with more than 50 experts from various backgrounds (doctors, endocrinologists, micronutritionists, etc.) and more than 100 women in order to develop 3 products from the biotechnology tell at thescientifically effective measured by tests.

And hair serum to counter hair loss and thinning,
complement_alimentaire_miye_equilibre_hormonal And dietary supplement for good emotional balance, good sleep and better hormonal regulation
gel_intime_bio_apaisant_ph_neutre_miyeAnd come intime moisturizing, rebalancing and protective of the intimate area.

We want to pave the way for a new female body ecology with a very strict charter without compromise neither on efficiency nor on eco-responsibility: active ingredients from biotechnology tell, tests under control dermatological and gynecological, of the
formulas certified ORGANIC, VEGAN, eco-designed packs and 1% of turnover for the planet.
